Awesome snowmobile tour We took the 2 hour tour with Drew and had an awesome time! Plenty of scenery, breaks to take photos, and even got to race on their track. We took a break midway through the tour in their yurt for cocoa/cider and treats. They provided boots, helmets and outerwear. Make sure to bring your goggles and gloves (even though the handle bars are heated). They picked us up at the hotel and returned us so very convenient. Well worth the price and would highly recommend them!

Great backcountry experience for the family! This is a top notch operator. They picked us up from home is a very nice shuttle, brought us up the Piney Lake rd to get situated. Best time, great memories We had a wonderful time with Nathan as our guide. He was funny, patient, knowledgeable, very helpful and attentive to my parents. We got a bunch of snow, toured for a little, eate a yurt where there was some yummy food cooked for us, and got back on the track to have some fun! Would def recommend and do again! After lunch, we went around the area and then headed back to base.

Amazing Tour of Vail Backcountry Sites Went on this amazing Snowmobile Tour with my Best Friend and we were treated like Royalty a long with an Amazing Tour with Gorgeous sites. The tour guides are very knowledgeable of the slopes and have a very nice rest spot that is absolutely cozy and gorgeous!! A must do when in the Avon/Vail area.

Vail Back Country Tours An incredible Experience! Riding the snowmobile through the forest was an incredible experience! The views of the snow and the tress were breathtaking. Incredible family trip My family (8yr old and 14yr old) took an afternoon trip w Nathan and had a blast. Weather was perfect and the views were incredible. The yurt halfway through was right on time. Gave the kids a chance to warm up and have a snack. The woman working in the yurt couldn’t have been nicer. Would definitely recommend this for families looking for an adventure.

Great trip! Did the 3 hour tour with Greg as our guide. Great time with family. Terrain interesting enough for those of us who had snowmobiled before, but not to difficult for my daughter’s first ride. Greg was great! Safe, patient and entertaining. Greg picked us up from our hotel in Vail and in about 30minutes we were riding.
The 3 hour tour included lunch in their private yurt which was over the top! Deifinitely worth the extra money. Whole staff was energetic and helpful. Would definitely do again!

Awesome 2 Hour Private Tour Thank you Greg for an amazing 2 hours ride through the White River National Forest. Spectacular scenery, crazy fresh snowfall (admittedly fortunate), great equipment, and excellent service all combined for a truly memorable birthday morning for our daughter!

So fun! We went out on a Tuesday morning with a group of 9 of us. They picked us up from our hotel in Avon. Greg and Diego were our snowmobiling guides. After a brief lesson on how the snowmobile worked, we we off into the mountains! SO MUCH FUN! We followed each other in a line, but were able to go pretty fast. The snowmobiles were brand new, and very nice. After going for a couple of hours, we stopped in at their yurt for lunch, and a nice warm up near the wood burning stove. Food was great! We went back out and snowmobiled for a bit, then headed back to their office. Greg and Diego were AWESOME guides. Everyone had an absolutely great day. I want to do it again with our teenage kids. Things to know: they provided googles, helmets and warm boots for those who needed them. Boots were much warmer than the ones I had worn there. Definitely bring a neck warmer thing so you can cover your face. The handlebars and throttle are heated, but you still need some good gloves. I can’t say how much we enjoyed our day! Great company!

Fun snowmobile trip My first time snowmobiling and I had a great time! The weather was perfect, our guide Nathan was awesome, and the views were fantastic. My only suggestion would be to slow down, especially when riding through scenic forests. It seemed like everyone wanted to go as fast as possible which was fun to a point, but grueling when it was all the time. Still, I had a fun time and would recommend them to anyone.

Can’t miss Vail experience Our tour and tour guide, Greg, were incredible. It’s the perfect trip for any skill level rider, from having never been on a snowmobile to an experienced rider. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone traveling to vail or anywhere in the area. Views!!! And Excellent Customer Service!!! I took a tour with my 6 yr old son and by far this was the highlight of our trip. From ensuring we were properly dressed to making sure we understood how to operate the snowmobiles, everything was phenomenal. I could right a mini novel on the views and the feeling of being with a tour guide that was so knowledgeable about the terrain. Beau was our tour guide and when I tell u this man exceeded my expectations!!! We are from Texas and had no clue what to expect, but Beau made sure we were on point. This tour w/ this company is a must on a trip to do list!!

INCREDIBLE - 10/10!! My first time snowmobiling, I have to admit I was a little anxious. The team, and in particular our guide Nathan Guild, did an AMAZING job teaching us how to drive and making sure I felt comfortable the entire time. It ended up being my favorite part of the entire trip: it was SO fun to drive, and the views were unbelievable (better than at the top of the ski mountain). I shared a machine with a friend, switching off driving, and did the 3 hour tour and thought it was the perfect combo/length for me. Nathan was truly the best guide ever - making sure I felt comfortable without slowing down the thrill-seekers of the group. If you have any anxiety about snowmobiling, he is your guy!! 10/10, cannot recommend more highly!!!

My family consists of 2 adults and two teens (16 & 19). We did the 1/2 day tour & each drove our own machines.

We made memories that day! We all were stunned at the beauty we saw. Gorgeous!
Their van picked us up at the hotel and after a short drive, we were at their setup on the mountain. There, we were fitted with better boots (use them!) & helmets. They had water, restroom and some t-shirts for sale.

Greg was our guide and he was the absolute BEST! He was kind, patient and cautious. We felt safe at all times.

The tour length (1/2 day) was awesome for us as some tours we have done in the past have felt too short. This one was the perfect amount of time for our family. I think with younger kids, I would ask their opinion on best length. I guess it depends on your kiddos and how adventurous that are (it's cold!). Again, we LOVED every single moment & would do it all again in a heartbeat!

Halfway through our tour, we stopped @ the Yurt to warm up! So cute. The yurt provided us with a nice warm fire, some snacks (lemon bars! etc), warm drinks (cocoa! etc), chargers for phones and a restroom break (outhouse in the snow, ya'll, lol)! We took a few photos there, too. Everything was clean and cozy and we thought it was a fun experience!

Greg made sure to stop a few times throughout the tour so we could take pics. He even offered to take a few for us so we could have the whole family together. 🙂

Did I say the scenery is gorgeous!!! Breathtaking, really.

The best Vail snowmobiling experience I cannot express how magical this experience was from start to finish. Nathan Guild picked us up directly from our hotel in Vail and was an absolute gentleman. Once we picked the rest of group up from a meeting site, we drove in a limo style shuttle van. Top shelf from start to finish. The staff was all attentive once we arrived to the main snowmobile headquarters and was so genuine in wishing my wife and I happy 55th birthday!! I've ridden in several snowmobiles during my lifetime, however, these were by far top of the notch! Heated handlebars for the passengers seat complete with backrest, and heated driver grips along with touch adjusting buttons. After a well detailed safety and instructions meeting with Nathan, we began our journey into the winter wonderland of the Vail mountains. We were a group of 12 with Nathan and a guild in training bringing up the rear. I felt so safe as did my wife on the same vehicle. Safety was priority number 1 with this company. You could tell, this is not for the yahoos and drunks. If you wipe out, it could ruin everyone's trip waiting to pull your snowmobile out of the ravines. After a joyful ride, we made our way to the mountain top hut. A wonderful "Happy birthday " dessert and candles made our day!!! My wife wants to do it again and next time with friends and family.

Vail Backcountry Tours will not disappoint! Our family of six (from 28-60) had a fabulous time! From pick up to drop off, everything was very professional. We had a magnificent day of snowmobiling with beautiful views, time to play on our sleds and a delicious lunch in the Yurt. Our guide, Beau, made us feel safe and cared for; experience makes the difference. And fresh snow did not stop Beau from making tracks to the top. We had so much fun! I would highly recommend Vail Backcountry Tours!

Awesome Service! Our family spent Christmas in Vail this year and this was probably everyone's favorite part. We were a large group, so we took a private excursion. The equipment was incredible, brand new, beautiful snow mobiles with heated hand grips!! Our outing was in the late afternoon, so as we were heading back the sun was setting. What an incredible sunset and then the lights of Vail came on. Definitely a memorable evening and we will most definitely repeat next year!

Snowmobile tour Vail My family had the most amazing snowmobile tour today with Curtis ~ we had our daughter ( 7 years old ) with us and he made sure she was secured on the back of the snowmobile and had all the necessary cold weather gear she needed ~ I can’t even tell you how amazing the views of the mountains and the snow covered trees were ~ absolutely breathtaking! I would highly recommend this tour company 10000x over again ~ halfway through the tour you stop at a warm cozy hut to warm your toes and enjoy some hot cocoa and warm brownies. Shay greeted us there with a warm welcome and made sure we were all taken care of before heading back down the mountain. I’m telling you this was one of my top adventures of my lifetime!

Amazing snowmobile experience What an amazing experience! Vail Backcountry Tours picked us up from our hotel promptly at the agreed upon time in a clean and spacious van. Beau our tour guide drove us to the office where we were given everything we needed to safely and warmly snowmobile. The office was very clean and all the employees were so kind and accommodating . When it was time to start the tour I wanted to quit. They encourage me and finally offered to ride as a passenger with Beau. Best decision !! I loved the scenic drive while my daughter loved the experience of driving the snowmobile . Highly recommend !!

Adrenaline pumping experience good for the whole family! We are a family of 5 with 3 kids 16, 14 and 10. We had a blast riding the snowmobiles and felt always safe with our tour guide. This is a 2 hour tour through the mountain with some breaks along the way. If your kids want to do something very exciting other than skiing this is highly recommended.

Best part of our ski vacation This was the most PHENOMENAL tour we have ever been on! This is a must do when traveling to the Vail Valley. The shuttle picked us up at our lodge and took us to base camp. The staff helped us gear up and provided us with excellent customer service. The owners went out of their way to make my husbands 50th birthday extra special. The yurt is a special place to relax half way through the tour with hot yummy drinks. Everything about this tour was perfect! This was the best part of our week long trip to Vail. The views are spectacular and the guide was awesome! We can’t wait to do it again. Fantastic tour! We were a party of 5 who have snowmobiled before, and we would definitely do this again with Greg! Filled out waivers while being transported from our condo, and did the 2-hour tour which entailed beautiful trails with "trail map" views of Vail, large open field for everybody to have their hand at taking laps, gorgeous single track trail through trees covered in snow, and rest stop in a yurt for lemon bars, brownie bites, cookies, apple cider, hot chocolate, coffee, etc. Fabulous friendly service and very relaxing tour - all the staff were laid back and friendly, making sure everyone was comfortable and warm. So fun! It was great that Greg picked us up at our hotel and then was also our guide. It was nice that the same person was with us the whole day. This was my second experience snow mobiling and this one was much better. The tour was great. It was a small group and we were able to go at a pace of our ability. It was really fun and safe. Incredible experience! We had an absolutely incredible experience! We have two young boys ages 6 and 8 and everyone took exceptionally good care of us. Greg lead us on a wonderful tour and showed us some spectacular views of the mountains. I will most certainly book this tour on our next trip!

Experience the fun! If you’ve never been to Piney; do it in the winter with Vail Backcountry! There is so many picturesque moments- oh yeah- The Snowmobiling is Epic as well. The Vail Backcountry Team is friendly and fun. Safety is their priority. Our guide, Chris, was exceptional. Riding the miles of groomed trails was safe, fun and especially loved by my 9 y.o. A stop at the Yurt for some chocolate and cookies was a great addition to the tour.
The snowmobiles are in superb shape, have heated handles and comfortable for driver and passenger. Excellent service, amazing snowmobiling, and amazing views.

Great experience! We had such a blast today riding with Vail Backcountry Tours! We came from Denver and Fort Collins for our friend’s birthday and had more fun than we even expected. The trip took about 2.5 hours- 3 with suiting up and the instruction session- so we definitely got our money’s worth. They made sure we were well-suited for the cold and gave us a safety briefing before we took off. Super scenic views, good speeds for both those who wanted to go quickly at times and still slow enough for those who wanted to take a leisurely pace and take in the views. A great stop at a nice little hut for some hot cocoa, treats, and toe warming by the wood fire. Overall a wonderful experience and great guides!

Great Snowmobiling Experience My husband and I went on the Vail Back Country tour with Greg. It was our first time snowmobiling and it was so much fun! The Scenery was beautiful and the stop at the Yurt was nice for a hot drink and snack. Greg made our tour simply by being so knowledgeable but also a nice, fun guy! Our experience was awesome!

Family tour with Mark Boutin We've been on this tour before. It's always a great time and very beautiful. Today was our best one yet. Mark Boutin was our guide and he was awesome. He took the time to talk about different animal tracks we saw and types of wildlife in the mountains. He also showed us different landmarks and told stories about them. He clearly loves what he does and we had fun with him. The snowmobiles are brand new and very comfortable too. This company is by far the best out there.

Liked it so much did it again 2 days later! This is a great way to see the mountains and have fun. I went Saturday morning first time and got picked up by a van from my hotel. It was a 25 minute ride to the mountain and was happily surprised they had my size in boots, bibs and helmet (I am a big guy). On Saturday we had a fantastic group and a great leader and it was so much fun in the mountains. The break at the Yurt was great and the lemon tarts are to die for. I went back Monday with the wife. We did not have as good of a group and at the beginning was a lot of waiting for people to catch up but still a great time. Great time and the people working there could not be any nicer. More

The best tour for all riders! My wife and I went out on Saturday with a really nice group of people. A younger family and a couple other couples. Had a FANTASTIC day with Nathan. I had done a different tour several years before, but my wife was a first timer. The trails were well maintained and easy to ride, the sites were beautiful and we had the chance to "open it up" a little on the track they have. Our guide was extremely helpful and patient with all, making sure we each enjoyed the day. The LUNCH was way more than we expected. Not your average boxed lunch, much closer to a gourmet meal in the middle of the mountains. Highly recommend you checking Vail Backcountry Tours out!

Snowmobile adventure This was such a great addition on our trip to Vail! The staff was amazing and our guide Chris was patient and beyond helpful. He was very kind and offered to take so many pictures with our phones of our families so we could save these memories. The whole family enjoyed every thing from the ride of the snow mobile, the breath taking views and of course the break in between for some hot chocolate and treats! SO FREAKING AWESOME Greg was AMAZING!! He was so friendly and made this a great first time experience. My hands were cold and he even went as far to lend me his gloves. My cousins recommended you guys and we are so happy we listened! Greg was so very kind and even took a few of us back to the Vail transportation center, us Texans appreciate it! See y’all next year!

The Snowmobile tour is absolutely great After having completed the reservation, the pickup time was on time, the registration went smoothly and so was the tutorial on operating the snowmobile. Our guide, Beau, was attentive all the time, a great host. All the gear provided by the tour company is in good working order. The trails are safe for first timers and the landscape is awesome. Don’t miss the opportunity to take this tour.

Snowmobile fun We recently used vail back country adventures and had a blast!!!! If you like jet skis, dirt bikes or motorcycles this is for you! Curtis C was our guide and was very experienced and skilled.
Our family and 2 teen age sons had a great time.
Beautiful scenery and excellent staff.
Will do it again next opportunity.

Great Group/Family Experience March 2021 Great trip today with Vail Backcountry Tours! The company runs top grade ski doos and their tour guides (including the manager of the yurt,John) deliver a great experience. Shay led our group of 3 adults and 2 teens. She was professional, personable, & most concerned with making our ride enjoyable!

Fun snowmobile tour with greg We did a snowmobile tour in late season. Snow was still very good. Machines are nice. Tour was Lots of fun, beautiful views. Must do in Vail. Greg was great!

Amazing outing We were a group of 13 that went out with Greg our guide. We had an amazing time, they provided us with everything we needed, pick up was prompt and check in was quick. If you go on this tour ask for Greg we was AMAZING. If ever in Vail go snowmobiling you wont regret it.

Friendly staff and beautiful tour! We had such a great time! Greg and the entire staff were all so friendly and made us feel very welcome and safe! THE BEST! Just got back from the 3:30 tour with Nathan. He made the experience memorable! Sunny skies on the way out & amazing mountain sunset at the top of the ridge. Groomed road/trail most of the way, but also some tree trails & a flat track to open up with some speed. Highly recommend the 3:30 time & this company. Convenient to Vail Lionshead. Short drive & they pick you up. DO IT!

Awesome company! This was our group's first time snowmobiling, and we had a great time! Nathan was the perfect guide. He was very in tune with the entire group regardless of their riding style. Half our group wanted to do something more technical or go fast, while the rest of us wanted to chill a bit more. He was able to provide both types of riders with a great experience and keep everyone safe. He's also just such a great guy. Ask for Nathan and you won't be disappointed!

Fantastic Experience!! Book it!! This is a must do for anyone visiting the area. We stayed in vail, got picked up at our hotel by the our tour guide Greg in the VBT shuttle, ushered up to the office, quick check in, briefing and we were off into the most amazing back country!

Awesome trails, fun flat area track, plenty of fast paced riding, beautiful stops along the way including a warming hut with snacks and hot beverages AND we were lucky enough to see Moose along the way thanks to our awesome guide Greg. Make sure you request Greg if you can, he was great!

This trip was the highlight of our vail experience and we will do it again!

SO MUCH FUN We were a group of 8 - so we were our own party. It was awesome. We were outfitted with suits, helmets and goggles. Explanation of snow mobiles was easy. The views were amazing and the hot cider and chocolate at the yurt were yummy. Very fun racing around the track and opening it up in the meadow. One of the best things we have ever done. Wanted to go back but they were booked. Don't think about it - just do it - so much fun.

Once in a lifetime. Our snowmobile experience with Vail Backcountry was exceptional. The staff was very friendly and helpful as we geared up for our trip through a beautiful winter wonderland. Our guide Troy did an excellent job educating us on the bikes as well as making sure we were safe. Hot chocolate at the yurt and a stop for photos made our trip special. Thanjs Troy!

Great experience. Excellent all around. Our family of five really enjoyed our two hour tour with Nathan. The machines are top notch compared to what we have ridden in other mountain towns. The terrain and trails heading up to Pinney Lake are perfect for snow mobiles. This isn’t the typical slow under 20 mph tour. They have great straightaways and a private track on the mountain where you can get up some nice speed approaching 40 mph. We had three drivers for our group of five and it was great. Our 17 year had no issue with her own machine. Our 10 year old and 14 year olds rode behind us and these machines have a comfortable back seat with heated handles! We all wore our ski clothes and our heated gloves. The girls added an extra layer they don’t usually wear when skiing. It was probably 28 degrees and nobody was cold.
